History
Greenlight was established by several students in the spring of 2002 guided on the principle that students could have an impact at the University of Minnesota and beyond. Greenlight arose out of the desire to raise awareness of environmental issues as students and to make a difference as construction and design professionals.
Today, Greenlight remains focused on raising awareness. We continue to raise awareness through initiatives such as workshops, awareness campaigns, lecture series, and weekly meetings. Greenlight has grown from one or two motivated students in 2002 to over 100 students today and maintains a steadily increasing level of interest from students, faculty, and professionals.
Greenlight has had a large impact on the decisions made at the College of Design (formerly the College of Architecture and Landscape Architecture). Associate Dean Lance Neckar has recognized Greenlight as one of the most influential forces at CDES.
As our membership grows and new leaders take on Greenlight projects, we are hopeful that our life's work at CDES becomes our life's work as design professionals.
